We read Forest Fires and compared and contrasted the 3 types of forest fires. MO History - Pretest for Chapter 2 Math- We will be multiplying with tens, hundreds, and thousands. wb pg 27-28 students are learning to identify the basic math fact and counting the zeros to add to the basic math fact to get the product. Comm Arts - Grammar: WS 13/14 (homework if not finished in class) Spelling - Test Tomorrow Reading - Ask your child about the fun activity they did with their vocabulary today! They will be bringing their words home tonight. We will test on them September 25, that’s NEXT WEEK not this week. MO History - We will be working on a cross-curricular assignment and watching a film about Missouri’s resources. Math- Reminder that the Parent Math Education Night is tonight at 6 pm in room 26. Multiplication math fact quiz tomorrow. We continued working on multiplication comparison problems with an unknown variable. Lesson 2.2 wb pg 25-26. Students were given step by step instructions on how to solve these types of problems using the same strategies we used in class. Steps for multiplication comparison problems “N” problems 1. What are you comparing? 2. Who gets the “n’s”? 3. What is the total? 4. Write an equation by counting the “n’s”. 5. Solve the equation for n. 6. Replace n’s with the answer. 7. Read the model/chart to answer the question. Science - read & discuss pages 64-67 then complete a worksheet on traits
Comm Arts - Grammar: Worksheet 11/12 (simple and compound sentences) Homework if not finished in class Writing - Friendly Letter Rough Draft Due Thursday Reading - We are introduced to the elements of an expository text, how to recognize comparing & contrasting signals, and listened to Avalanche! As a class we compared and contrasted tornado drills and fire drills. MO History - Today we are dissecting our puzzle questions and working on finishing it up. We will also have AR time. Math- Today, we discussed multiplication comparison problems, Lesson 2.1 in class. Students brought home a parent information page about Chapter 2 skills that we are learning. Wb pgs.23-24 are homework, if it was not finished in class. There will be a math fact quiz on Friday. Did you know that when reading an equation the word is means equal? Science - read& discuss pages 60-63 - complete an activity
Comm Arts - Grammar: Today we viewewd a PowerPoint over the differences between simple and compouns sentences. (no homework) Writing: We used our sequene chart from last week to start writing a rough draft. (Due Thursday) Reading - Essential Question: How do people respond to natural disasters? Wewill explore Missouri’s SEMA website: http://sema.dps.mo.gov/plan_and_prepare/ and brainstorm different types of natural disasters around the world. MO HIstory - Today we are learning about renewable and nonrenewable resources. Please ask you child to name a few of each. Words to know: renewable resources, nonrenewable resources, resources, recycle, climate, temperature, precipitation, humidity, erosion, fire clay, and galena. Math- Introduction to multiplication in class. Students have a math fact worksheet due tomorrow. |
